Title: Small Treasures

Description: I was born in Germany, lived most of my life in America and am now living in South Africa near Stellenbosch.

I have always loved sewing, embroidery and knitting: starting with making dolls clothes, clothes for myself and my children. In 1975 I became serious about canvas work when I took a workshop in Arizona where I lived and stayed up all night to work on my piece. I then progressed to creative stitchery and in 1995 became seriously involved in quilt making when I met Lee Hackman at Cape Town Festival where we were both teaching. That year I took a class with Nancy Crow in Port Townsend, Washington, and have been making quilts ever since. I have a large studio where I spend several hours every day working on quilts.

I have exhibited at Innovative Threads in Cape Town from its beginning, in Quilt National twice and have a quilt at the American Craft Museum in New York.

This little piece was started in March as one of several studies while attending Quilters Quest and meeting up with many quilting friends, but working independently and not in a class room situation.
